Drewry launches new weekly report assessing cancelled sailings on the main trade routes

Print

With carriers carefully adjusting their schedules to meet demand during the global pandemic, access to a regularly updated picture of service availability is more important than ever.

We closely analyse our various service and schedule data feeds to provide a forward picture of anticipated market development - by alliance across the main trades, and to provide historical context include year-on-year comparisons in the weekly analysis.

Find out more about our new Cancelled Sailings Weekly Insight, available as an annual subscription service.

As well as a summary assessment and commentary against each key trade lane, weekly updates include analysis of the following:

  • Cancelled vs Scheduled Sailings (for the last month)
  • A weekly ’forward analysis’ of cancellations for each main trade; Transpacific, Asia-North Europe and Mediterranean and Transatlantic
  • Capacity Availability Indicator (anticipated over the next 4 weeks)
  • Effective capacity
  • Monthly year-on-year cancelled sailings comparison (2019 vs 2020), by trade lane and alliance
  • History of weekly Cancelled Sailings by alliance and trade lane (e.g. Week 23-42) - past 16 weeks
  • Vessel names and capacity for all trades (past 16 weeks)

Capacity Availability Indicator

To provide a snapshot assessment of each main trade lane, weekly report updates include a traffic-light indicator of available capacity. Various inputs go into this indicator, including cancellation numbers and spot rate development on that trade. Week 41 / 2020 below:
