Supporting port concession renewal process

Background

  • The government was starting the process of negotiating the renewal of a concession that was nearing its end of term and wished to evaluate its strategic options to support its renegotiation.

Client Objectives

  • To support their own internal evaluation and concession negotiations the Ministry was looking for an independent assessment of the market, tariff, International, regional benchmarks, methodologies or

    policies the Ministry should be looking at for future growth of the ports and what are the future risks and trends.

Drewry Approach

  • Drewry carried out a comprehensive assessment of the positioning of the port and potential scenarios with and without existing concessionaire, a review of key indicative terms of concession agreements, Concession structure of other regional ports, International, regional benchmarks, methodologies or policies the Ministry should be looking at for future growth of the port and future risks and trends.

Results Achieved

  • Drewry presented its findings to the Ministry over an interactive workshop session.
