John supports Drewry’s container equipment research practice as a long-term expert in the shipping container sector.
John is the main contributor to the company’s market leading Container Census & Leasing Annual and Container Equipment Forecaster reports. He also has extensive consultancy expertise having conducted projects analysing and modelling the container equipment asset market across multiple regions around the world.
John has spent over 30 years researching, analysing and writing on developments in the container shipping, general cargo, logistics and ports industries. This included a five-year period when he was Editor of Drewry’s flagship Container Forecaster quarterly report.
John was Editorial Director of the leading liner shipping periodical Containerisation International, sister title to the long-established shipping daily Lloyds List. Thereafter, he broadened his consultancy experience to hold senior roles with infrastructure advisory firm Moffatt and Nichol. This provided extensive cross-sector experience, gained from working on assignments covering port commercial and due diligence projects, and included the project cargo, finished vehicle, roro, cruise, as well as container handling sectors. Also during this time, he has been part-time consulting editor for shipping journal World Cargo News.
John holds a degree in Geography at Nottingham University, UK.
