Our Airfreight Price Index is a weighted average of all-in airfreight "buy rates" paid by forwarders to airlines for standard service airport-to-airport airfreight services on 44 major East-West routes for cargoes above 1,000 kg. This Index is sourced from our new Airfreight Insight subscription service.

Drewry's monthly composite Airfreight Price Index rose 3% from its June level, fuelled by anticipation of a last-minute rush to beat tariff deadlines, but tepid demand stifled sustained price increases - this played out particularly in the transpacific market – the only sector that augured significant rate hikes early on. Year-on-year only the transatlantic westbound sector showed increased rates. Pricing between Asia Pacific and Europe were mostly flat, despite a shift in Chinese e-commerce exports from North America to Europe. There were only moderate changes in Middle East-to-Europe pricing, reflecting stable conditions in container traffic, while prices from India to Europe retreated in low single digits, largely due to local issues.
