Red Sea Gateway Terminal Environmental due diligence

Client: Public Investment Fund (PIF)

PIF acts as the main investment arm to deliver a strategy focused on achieving attractive financial returns and long-term value for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. PIF is developing a portfolio of domestic and international investments and wanted to invest (20% equity) in Red Sea Gateway Terminal in Saudi Arabia (operating Container Terminal with a capacity of 2.5 million TEU and consolidation of an adjacent terminal). Drewry undertook comprehensive commercial, environmental and technical due diligence of the asset. Drewry conducted an Environmental and Health and Safety due diligence (supported by a site visit) and provided a review of policy and operation at the terminals. Drewry assessed the suitability of the facility’s environmental standards/measures and identified key risks, options for mitigation and estimates for the various options. This assessment assisted PIF in their evaluation of the investment.
